Members
Being a member of the BPO is the fundamental method of involvement. There are three types of membership applicants may be admitted to.
Performing Membership
Performing members take part in the musical and non-musical activities of the association. These activities may include rehearsals, performances, committee meetings, and social functions.
Performing Members are required to provide a high level of commitment to the association. This includes giving priority to rehearsals and concerts and, where able and willing, contributing to the running of the association.
Prospective members must pass an audition to be accepted as performing members.
Casual Performing Membership
Casual performing membership is an alternative to the level of commitment required of performing members. Casual performing members may be called upon for relief duties or augmentation of the orchestra.
Prospective members must pass an audition to be accepted as casual performing members.
Non-Performing Membership / Volunteers
Non-performing members take on operational responsibilities within the association. They enjoy the same voting and office-bearing rights as performing members.
Non-performing members are not able to perform in the musical ensembles but are an integral part in ‘getting them to the stage’.
All volunteers within the association become non-performing members.
