Weekly rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at the Old Museum Building, Bowen Hills. There are usually between four to six performances spread evenly through the year.

Members are required to commit for an entire year and attend all rehearsals, tours, and performances.

Absences due to significant family commitments, health issues, or other serious issues are unavoidable and the BPO understands cases of reasonable absence. Woodwind, brass, and percussion members must find a replacement during their absence.

Members are also required to participate in the organisational operations of the orchestra. This may involve taking on a management committee position, an officer’s role, or helping with basic tasks (mail-outs, programme notes, tree-planting, supper, etc).

Membership fee discounts favour members who perform for the entire year.
