Philip Davis
Philip was born in Sydney and studied trombone at the Newcastle Conservatorium. He joined the ABC National Training Orchestra in 1967, later playing with the Elizabethan Melbourne Orchestra (now Orchestra Victoria) and has played casually
with symphony orchestras in most Australian capital cities.
Since moving to Queensland in 1986, he has lectured at all Brisbane and regional universities in areas such as trombone, practical musicianship, and conducting at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
He has conducted many orchestras in and around Brisbane, including the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Conservatorium Orchestras and Wind Ensembles and the Queensland Symphonic Winds, taking the latter ensemble on several tours of South-East Asia.
He is currently the Head of Performance Music at Redlands College. |
